web-Knitting-plastic

You are invited this next Sunday the 25th of August to the Ecocentre 1:30-3, where I will be teaching  basic techniques for turning plastic bags into yarn suitable for crochet or knitting. I will only teach very simple stitches, that I have used to create a variety of handbags with.

If you already know how to crochet or knit, you can come along and give it a try with plastics and maybe even help me, teach someone who is starting off from zero. Bring plastics bags of any kind, even bread bags  can be used. Write to me at bagsrevolt@gmail.com letting me know that you are attending and which of the techniques you are going to try so that I can get a crochet hook/ knitting needles for you, or both. the cost of the workshop is $10 to cover the cost of these materials.

These two pictures were sent to me by Magdalena, a young Venezuelan woman whom I taught during my holidays in Venezuela how to make Plarn (short for Plastic Yarn), she was already and avid knitter. I was so excited to see her work and creativity with plastic bags! Hopefully she will teach others in her community! Hope it also gets you excited to come along and give it a try!
